Timbernook Sandhills

Est. 2016

TimberNook Sandhills offers child-led, outdoor programs rooted in play, connection, and nature — and Dayshine Therapy & Wellness, PLLC has been proud to host them right here in Moore County since 2016.

TimberNook is a globally recognized outdoor adventure program developed by pediatric occupational therapist Angela Hanscom. Dayshine is a licensed provider, which means we bring the full depth of that programming to our local community — with a dedicated team on the ground who knows these children, this land, and this season.

TimberNook sets the framework. Dayshine brings it to life.

Programs run at the historic McDonald Ray farm at 1615 Bethesda Road in Aberdeen — less than a mile from US1 and Saunders Blvd, with easy access for families across Moore County, including Aberdeen, Carthage, Pinehurst, Pinebluff, Southern Pines, and Vass.

Registration is handled directly through TimberNook HQ. Use the link below to see current sessions, dates, and availability.

Our Mission

Restoring the vital role of outdoor play in childhood.

Our mission is simple. We’re restoring children’s authentic occupation: play. Because research shows that kids grow, learn, and develop better when given the freedom to play outside. We believe play is both a fundamental right and a profound source of healing. As a mission-driven organization, we champion the right to play through education, research, and hands-on opportunities.

This passion has grown into a global movement. Around the world, individual TimberNook providers and certified schools are creating outdoor sensory-rich, child-directed experiences that blend the power of story with the therapeutic benefits of nature. The end result is a research-based program that nurtures natural development and empowers every child to step into their true self within a supportive community.
